The True Story of Abraham Nhial - one of the Lost Boys of South Sudan
This is the story of Abraham Nhial, who had to leave his home in southern Sudan after the civil war broke out in 1983. He became a part of the Lost Boys, a group of 35,000 boys who walked over a thousand miles in search of freedom. He shares the story of his life and how he found faith and the strength to forgive in the midst of tragedy.
Can you imagine being nine years old and seeing your entire village destroyed because they refused to embrace radical Islam? That’s what happened to the Lost Boys.

Bishop Abraham Nhial puts his life at risk every day to glorify God. He was selected for immigration to the U.S. in 2001 while serving as an Anglican minister in South Sudan. He continued his calling in the U.S. and has since completed his Masters in Biblical Studies. Now, he has returned to his home country - South Sudan, to serve the people and share the great news of Jesus Christ.

Access to clean drinking water is essential for communities. By drilling a well near a church or school, it could also serve as a means for spreading the Gospel.

Sewing machines offer an opportunity for people to earn a living. By using sewing machines, some people can earn income to provide for their families

In May 2023, Bishop Abraham Nhial of South Sudan traveled to Cuba to meet Pastor Reinaldo Varona. Pastor Reinaldo's church has been sending financial support to Bishop Abraham faithfully since 2011. This was the first time they met in person.

Bishop Abraham receives no income and depends on God daily to help him and his people. Bishop Abraham is one of the few Lost Boys who has returned to South Sudan to help his people. He said, “If others are willing to go back and help my people, how can I not go back?” He is selfless, and instead of staying in the U.S. and being paid by a large church, he is trying to help his people with not only food, medicine, and shelter but also to help them know Jesus Christ.
